Two Corporate drivers of MTN Ghana have been awarded for safe driving during the Ghana Driver and Road Safety Awards organized at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Thursday, November 21, 2019.

The two, Derrick Kobina Bentum and Noah Kwame Acquah Dadzie placed 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in the Corporate Drivers Awards category. They both received a certificate of participation and a prize package.

The two are part of selected drivers who participated in a series of trainings in road traffic rules and regulations.

The award scheme was established in 2010 by the National Road Safety Commission under the Ministry of Transport to reward best practices in road transport operations in Ghana.

Receiving the awards, the drivers expressed their appreciation to the event organizers and pledged to share the knowledge acquired with other drivers.

Commenting on the awards, Mr. John Abu, Senior Manager, MTN Ghana for General Services congratulated the two drivers for making MTN proud. He said, “MTN invests in its human resource and as a result drivers who work at MTN are always trained and encouraged to abide by all road safety regulations to improve the protection of passengers and other road users.”

“These awards will go a long way to motivate other drivers to distinguish themselves in promoting road safety in Ghana”, he added.

Speakers at the awards ceremony admonished road users to be very cautious and observe road signs when driving, adding that over speeding and drunk driving should be avoided to achieve Ghana beyond road accidents.

This year’s awards scheme was under the theme “Rewarding Driving Excellence; Promoting Road Safety’’. The event was attended by The Minister of Transport, Hon.
