MTN Ghana pays working visit to Zipline’s Operation Centre

The technical team of Ghana’s telecommunication giants, MTN Ghana, has paid a working visit to Zipline’s operation’s centre at Omenako-Suhum in the Eastern Region.

The Senior Manager for MTN Ghana Enterprise Sales, Daniel Asare, in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the tour of the Zipline facility explained that the visit was to afford “us the opportunity to collaborate more in other areas where we can work with Zipline Ghana”

“Zipline relies on the internet and we provide internet to them. One, for the facility and for the SIM cards that they put in the drones. So we configure what helps them to fly the drones and bring them back,” he disclosed.

Zipline Ghana relies greatly on internet services to meet its core mandate of supplying essential medical supplies to health facilities in the country, and MTN being a leader in providing such solutions was contracted.

MTN Ghana has been providing internet services and network solutions to Zipline since it started operation in Ghana.

The Country Manager of Zipline Ghana, Naa Adorkor Yawson, described the relationship as a great partnership and said;

“Its been a great partnership for the supply of internet services and network connectivity which is one of the most important services we use,” she mentioned.

She further noted that MTN Ghana from the start of the operations of Zipline  has been a great partner, ensuring that it delivers its products.

As we grow in our operations we will continue to rely on MTN to support us in our mission of saving lives,” she noted.

The mandate of Zipline is to serve very remote rural areas with the use of drones for emergency deliveries of vaccines, blood products, and other life-saving medications.

The operations of Zipline Ghana compliments what already exists on the grounds in order to ensure that they are responsive when it comes to quality health care delivery in the country.

Where ground infrastructure would have been a challenge, Zipline with the area logistics is able to respond to the challenges that existed, thereby ensuring that there is equity when it comes to healthcare delivery in the country.

Zipline currently has four distribution centres, the first of which is in the Eastern Region and situated at Omenako-Suhum, the second is at Mpanya-Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region, the third at Vobsi in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region, and the fourth at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region.

Zipline currently provides services to over 610 centres and makes an average of 150 flights a day.
