MTN wins highest number of awards at the maiden edition of Project Management Awards
The maiden edition of the Project Management Excellence Awards was held in Accra on 23rd November 2019.
The 2019 Project Management Awards which was organized by Management Excellence Foundation seeks to reward and recognize Project Management excellence and standards in Ghana.
MTN Ghana won five awards at the maiden edition in the following categories;
• Economic Impact Project Award
• Project of the Year Award
• Project Management Company Award
Two Project Management Personality awards were received by Mr. William Tetteh, General Manager for Capital Projects Group at MTN Ghana for his “Distinguished Contribution to Organizational Project Management”. Mr. McCoy Kpadey was also awarded Project Manager of the Year.
Varied projects executed by MTN Ghana were awarded. A palm oil processing centre built by MTN which supports over 200 women in palm oil production at Juaso in the Ashanti Region won the “Economic Impact Award”. The Rural Telephony project by MTN which was launched in Abenaso in the Eastern Region and which connects 300 underserved and unserved communities with mobile telephony services won the “Project of the Year Award”. Mr. McCoy Kpadey, Manager for Project Network Upgrades at MTN who was the project lead for the Rural Telephony project won the “Project Manager of the Year.” The “Project Management Company of the Year Award” was bestowed on MTN as a result of the best project management practices MTN deploys.
The awards were received by the various Portfolio Managers of the Capital Projects Group at MTN Ghana.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. William Tetteh thanked the organizers for the award and dedicated the award to the Capital Projects team of MTN for their unwavering support throughout the years.
He said, “Project Management is a calling and whatever you do wholeheartedly proves rewarding and this award attests to it. I will continue to dedicate my career to the advancement of Project Management in MTN Ghana and beyond.”
Commenting on the awards, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Selorm Adadevoh congratulated William for his award and the Capital Projects Team for employing best practices in managing projects of MTN Ghana.
The Project Management award recognizes individuals or organisations who have pursued best practices in economic development through projects and attained the highest standards of professional conduct and competence within the project management space.
