It was all joy and commendations among the Muslim Communities for H.E. John Dramani Mahama for his timely intervention over the past two weeks.
The former President made available an assorted food items for distribution among Muslims households across the country to support them in this period of the Ramadan Fasting. The items which mainly included Rice and Sugar was presented to Muslims through the Zongo Caucus Coordinartor of the NDC.
The gesture drew a lot of commendation from the Council of Zongo Chiefs and the leadership of all the Muslim Sects who could not resist expressing a deep appreciation to the former president. The entire Muslim communities joined in the show of gratitude as the intervention did not leave out most of the Victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) Shooting incidents which occurred under Akufo-Addo’s watch on the 31st January 2019. “It is amazing how John Mahama could remember us and our plight in spite of the distance between us”. This was the comment among a large number of beneficiaries who thought the gesture had permeated to the lowest level of the social strata to their admiration.
Our inquiry into the details of the exercise revealed that each AWW Victim received a 25kg of rice to support them in this Fasting period. Presenting the items, the Zongo Caucus Officers of the NDC stated that, H.E. John Mahama has promised to extend a continuous support to ensure that they maintain a relatively comfortable life as we move into the future.
“John Mahama is God-sent and his conduct and generosity in governance confirms my assertion”, a chief in the Central region stated vehemently in admiration for John Mahama. “To come up with this amount of gesture in spite of the volume of items he presented to Ghanaians during the Lockdown period, demonstrates a high level of generosity from a leader full of compassion for his people”, a Youth Activist posited.
On this note, all Muslims have recognized the compassion of John Mahama for the Muslim and Zongo communities and have in turn vowed to support the latter to ensure a resounding victory for him and the NDC in the December 2020 elections.
