The Northern regional Public Relation Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Kanzoni Awaala Donald says teachers who influence posting to their place of choice amount to corruption.

He revealed that teachers are seriously lacking in the rural schools in the northern region, hence it will be affront for the new teachers to influence their posting to the urban areas.

According to him, the Ghana education service has resolved not grant reposting to the newly appointed teachers.

‘When we talk of corruption, we just think that it is when somebody goes to steal money, when you are sent where your service is needed and you use any other force to influence, to send yourself to where you want and not where the nation needs you, it is also corruption, the children anywhere in the country needs our help’.

Mr. Kanzoni in an interview with NorthernWebGh.com charged the appointed teachers to show commitment and patriotism for the benefit of the poor child in the rural suburbs.

He said, there are a lot of teachers in tamale which the Ghana education service doesn’t actual need.

He indicated that, reposting will not be granted to the appointed teachers, due to the vacancies that were declared.

Mr. Kanzoni therefore appealed to the appointees to please report to work, and not wait for months after failure to get their posting change.

‘We are appealing to all who have been appointed to take up their posting, and report as early as possible, what also we want to add is that if you are posted and you go to print out and you don’t report immediately, you will not be paid, you will only be paid base on when you reported at the place, so the new teachers should take note and report immediately as soon as they print out their posting letters’.

He further urged the appointees to report to the regional offices of GES, with their appointment letters and certificates for further directives.

The new teachers completed and passed the college of education exams in 2018, passed their licensure exams in 2018/2019 and further completed the mandatory national service.
