NAM 1 Case: Prosecution awaiting AG’s instruction on docket
The prosecution in the case in which embattled CEO of Menzgold Ghana Limited Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) is standing trial has said the police has forwarded the case docket to the Attorney General’s Office for “instruction on their next line of action.”
The state was expected to substitute the old charges with a new one where 48 new charges are expected to be added to the 13 that were earlier slapped on him.
But, in Court on Monday, ASP Sylvester Asare informed the Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Harriete Naa Akweley Quaye now a (Justice of the High Court) that they are waiting for the AGs advice on the docket they have forwarded to it for a study.
“My Lady, in the last court date, I indicated to the court of our recent development intended to advise the court today (Monday, December 23, 2019).
“In view of our further investigations, the police has forwarded the case docket to the Attorney General’s Department for a study and advice,” ASP Asare informed the court.
Under the circumstances, however, the prosecution prayed for the case to be adjourned to January by which time “we may receive further instructions from the AG’s office to enable us to advise the court on our appropriate line of action.”
Consequently, the court presided over by Mrs Quaye, newly sworn-in High Court judge, adjourned the case to January 21, 2020.
