Nana Akomea praises Ghana Police for brutalizing Demonstrators
"As for the police behaviour, they must commend them for that tolerant behaviour."
The Chief Executive Officer of the Intercity State Transport Company, Nana Akomea, has commended the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism during the recent Democracy Hub protest.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on September 27, 2024, he stated that although the protestors provoked the police by engaging in acts of lawlessness, the police officers remained calm.
“The conduct of the Ghana Police on that occasion comes nowhere near the provocation. I was shocked that the police were trying to calm the people down. That was a police vehicle they were using to tow away some vehicles. You go and seize the key; you have obstructed the police. So, you obstruct the police, who are actually doing their work. The things that they did, blocking the roads and telling people, we don’t care if you are dying or whatever,” he explained.
He continued, “As for the police behaviour, they must commend them for that tolerant behaviour.”
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Democracy Hub began a three-day protest to draw attention to the impact of illegal mining activities and economic mismanagement in the country.
Over 50 protesters have so far been arrested and facing prosecution.
