Nana Akufo-Addo, A Grassroots President: Irenic, Competent, Wise, and, and, and…
For three years since assuming the reins of power, His Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo has been proactive with the grassroots, touring region by region to get himself involved directly with the issues of the people to whom he is eternally grateful for having reposed their trust in him. Yes, he has delivered, and the grassroots have voiced their appreciation for such astute and sharp governance as they have never witnessed before.
He has made scores of visits to the regions and visited the newly carved out regions several times already, too, clocking appreciable feats. In fact, the implementation of promises that he made in the prelude to the 2016 elections has been rapid, and at an unprecedented pace of completion. You would have to be a magician to keep up with the pace he is moving at. You must be ordained by some form of heavenly power to achieve the standards that he has set, albeit those privileged to work with him in the past three years have had to step it up otherwise they just dropped along the way and thawed like a pellet of hail ice as it fell to the ground.
I can’t imagine what Dagbon would be like now without the peace that all had smoked under his auspices. Yes, there is finally peace in Dagbon! The Royal Gates are one now, and the once polarised setting of the Northern Region has dissipated to be replaced with a love that has not been found amongst the people there in almost two decades.
The construction of Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam a long awaited social intervention in the Upper East Region with overall national benefits has taken off in earnest to avoid the floods that usually result due to spillage from the Burkinabe dams. This not only reduces the burden on NADMO and generally the national kitty, but it provides for constant water supply for irrigation, hydro-electricity generation, aquaculture, and many other benefits.
The 138 km Salaga-Mankango road is being constructed with international specifications. In fact, there is so much going on in the Northern sector of Ghana that you’d think the President hails from there. Then again, when you turn to look at the other regions, you will also wonder whether he has roots there. For those who cannot see, they may just be blind or just want to be ….. BLIND!!!
Yes, Nana Akufo-Addo is of Ghanaian dust. It does not matter where the dust that GOD used to mould him came from, because he believes that so long as he belongs to the land called Ghana, he has a responsibility to ensure that every part of the country he was entrusted with receives an equal measure of development. That notwithstanding, the Volta Region and its offshoot the Oti Region are receiving their fair share of development. Whereas the former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, neglected the Volta Region, which was the vote bank of the NDC, and whereas John Dramani Mahama neglected his own hometown of Bole/Bamboi that he represented as a Parliamentarian, the son of the Elephant party, the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has come to do justice to the term Ghanaianism. An all-embracing agenda to ensure that the very minutest of villages and the furthest of communities are not deprived of the massive development currently going on in the country. He has made it his priority to get to them no matter how and what it takes.
The 17 MegaWatt Kaleo-Lawra solar electrification installations currently under construction will be completed this year to provide reliable green energy to that part of the country and augment supplies to grid. It was a dream that never was imagined. Under John Mahama and the NDC, that part of the country that was seen as an NDC enclave was neglected in the worst manner ever possible as if the indigenes were not human beings. Today the son of NPP, President Akufo-Addo, is delivering much needed facilities and social interventions to make life much easier.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has brought back into business the AngloGold Obuasi mine, with the first gold pouring taking place a few days after John Mahama and the NDC collapsed it for five years. Ghanaians ought to note that President Akufo-Addo does not collapse businesses for any parochial gains, and will not allow that Ghanaian business collapse. It is worthy to understand that under John Mahama, many mining companies became redundant, and some shut down completely. There were lots of allegations that he was creating a dynasty that he had hoped would rule Ghana for a long time similar to the dynasties of China where he seemed to learn from. The idea could not be masturbated enough because Nana Akufo-Addo came speeding past to collect the baton of power from him with the Ghanaian electorate urging him on.
It is for this reason that he is seen by many as the grassroots president with a love for all and hatred for none!
