Nana Hopeful Of Economic Rebound

President Nana Akufo-Addo is more than optimistic about Ghana’s ability to bounce back to its sound economic footing.

Whiles he admitted to the fact that the last couple of years has been fraught with trials, challenges and moments that had tested the resolve of the country, he said “but through it all, God’s hands had guided us and we stand now united, stronger than ever.”

This was during the 2024 Presidential New Year Eucharistic Service at the Jubilee House yesterday.

The service was organised by the Anglican Church for the President, his family and staff of the presidency.

The President anchored his hope in God, quoting Psalm 46:1 of the Holy Bible which said, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” to buttress his conviction, insisting that Ghana had come this far by God’s grace.

He was therefore confident about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Even though he has barely a year to finish his term of office as President, he was filled with optimism and determination that with the support of Ghanaians and the guidance of the Almighty God, the country would become a progressive and prosperous one.

He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to begin the new year with a renewed sense of purpose and stronger commitment to the ideas that unite the nation.

As God’s children, the President said Ghanaians might be tempted to allow struggles to define their worth, however, he said ultimate victory is guaranteed.

The service was led by the Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Church of the Province of West Africa, Most Rev. Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith.

Other officiating ministers included all three Archbishop Emeritus’ and the Bishops of all the 13 dioceses in the country.

There was musical rendition, hymns, responsorial psalms, epistles, homilies, liturgy of the Holy Eucharist and presentation of the holy communion.

Intercessory prayers were said for the President and his family, the cabinet, Legislature, Judiciary, peaceful elections and the Anglican Communion.

President Akufo-Addo together with the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and family members as well as the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng received the holy communion.

President Akufo-Addo, who described the occasion as a “spirit-filled” New Year Presidential Eucharist Service, also pleaded with the church to continuously bear the nation in prayers for “the battle is the Lord’s.”

Preaching the homily, Rev. Ben-Smith assured that against all odds and projections, 2024, as God promised, would be a year of multiplicity and abundance, and said God’s demand was for all to be truthful, honest and disciplined.

He said as the President entered the final year of his term, “the Lord’s promise to you and the wonderful people of Ghana will come to pass.”
