Nana Kweku Kakraba Annhwer Donates Over GHS130K in Medical Supplies to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital on 50th Birthday

He urged others who have the means to extend their support to health facilities to improve medical services in the region.

A Safohen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Kweku Kakraba Annhwer, also known as Joseph Albert Nelson Nunoo, has donated medical supplies to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. The donation, valued at GHS 135,000, included essential items such as diathermy pencils and pads, surgical gowns, medical bandages, surgical shoes, adult nappies, medical aprons, nitro examination gloves, and surgical masks.

The presentation ceremony held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the hospital premises was part of Nana’s 50th birthday celebration.

In his remarks, Nana Kweku Kakraba Annhwer who was in the company of his wife, Dr Jemima Nunoo, noted that the donation was motivated by his desire to give back to his community, especially on such a special occasion as his 50th birthday. He urged others who have the means to extend their support to health facilities to improve medical services in the region.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Dr Eric Kofi Ngyedu on behalf of the institution, expressed profound gratitude to Nana Kweku Kakraba Annhwer for his kind gesture. The CEO stressed the importance of the donated items, stating that they would help fill a critical gap in the hospital’s supplies and enhance the quality of care for patients.

 

The Head of Nursing at the hospital also expressed appreciation and offered prayers and blessings for Nana Kakraba. She praised his thoughtful act and wished him many more successful years, hoping that he would continue to support the hospital in the future.

The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, a leading medical facility in the Central Region, has consistently welcomed support from individuals and organizations, which has helped it provide better healthcare services to the people of Cape Coast and its surrounding areas.

 

The donation exercise coincided with the just-ended Oguaa Fetu Afahye, during which Nana Kweku Kakraba Annhwer played a significant role as a member of the Anniversary Planning Committee.

 

For the first time in the festival’s history, Nana and his committee, led by former EC boss Charlotte Osei, extended an invitation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The Asantehene joined the Paramount Chief of Oguaa, 20Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, and his chiefs for the grand durbar on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

 

The Fetu Afahye festival, which dates back to the 17th century, is a celebration of the Oguaa people’s rich cultural heritage and their victory over their enemies.
