The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has delivered a rallying call to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging them to unite and work towards securing victory in the upcoming 2024 elections. Speaking at the official launch of the NPP’s manifesto, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the readiness of the party’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, to transform Ghana despite criticism.

Addressing concerns about Dr. Prempeh’s perceived arrogance, Afenyo-Markin was quick to dismiss such notions, drawing parallels with similar criticisms faced by President Akufo-Addo during his candidacy. “Even if Napo is arrogant, he is ready to transform Ghana with his arrogance,” he stated, adding that such criticisms failed to derail Akufo-Addo’s journey to the presidency and would not impede Napo’s ability to lead.

Afenyo-Markin highlighted Napo’s pivotal role in implementing the Free SHS Education Policy, one of the NPP’s flagship achievements. He boldly asserted that Napo is prepared to debate former Education Minister and NDC’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, on education and other policies, confident in the NPP’s track record and future plans.

The Majority Leader took the opportunity to outline the extensive policies laid out by the NPP, contrasting them with what he described as a lack of substantial proposals from the opposition. “We have laid down a lot of good policies, but our opponents have none,” he declared, reinforcing the party’s commitment to continue its developmental agenda.

In a motivational appeal to NPP appointees and supporters, Afenyo-Markin urged them not to give up, assuring them that “better days are coming.” He called for a unified effort, encouraging members to engage in grassroots campaigning through house-to-house and door-to-door interactions to secure the necessary numbers for victory.

“Let’s work together and win more. Bring your support and let’s win together, victory awaits us,” he urged, reinforcing the need for collective effort as the party moves into the campaign season.

To parliamentary candidates, he advised, “Enough of the recollimations, let’s move on,” underscoring the importance of moving forward with determination.

Afenyo-Markin’s message was clear: the NPP is on course to win the 2024 elections, but it will require dedication, unity, and hard work from all members to make that victory a reality.
