National Security Capo Edward Asomani goes Bonkers

The National Security Coordinator, Edward Kwaku Asomani, has been spotlighted by WhatsUp News, for abusing his powers within Ghana’s National Security setup.

Taking the mantle from his predecessor, Retired Major General Francis Adu-Amanfo, who aimed at restoring professionalism in the agency, Asomani, is alleged to have turned the agency into a force, which is akin to the infamous ‘Italian mafia.’

This alleged transformation, has led to intimidation, harassment, and violation of the rights of innocent citizens and journalists for personal gain.

Asomani’s appointment as the National Security Coordinator in August 2022, raised eyebrows, especially as he transitioned from the Danquah Institute [DI] owned by Ghanaian-British national, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, with no known experience.

Reports suggest that, Asomani, like other appointees selected by Gabby Otchere Darko, ultimately answers to the Director of Africa Legal Associates [ALA], known for having significant influence within the Akufo-Addo government.

Additionally, details surrounding Asomani’s background prior to his appointment raise concerns.

Public records from the UK reveal financial struggles with his company, UPJEES LIMITED, which was on the brink of dissolution, until his appointment as the National Security Coordinator.

Notably, Asomani, has since acquired multiple properties, including residences in the plush Cantonments area.

The impact of Asomani’s actions has been felt by journalists and citizens alike, with reports of harassment, surveillance, and even attacks on media outlets.

These actions have prompted some individuals, such as the Editor of WhatsUp Newspaper, David Tamakloe, to seek refuge abroad, due to alleged threats from Asomani and his associates within the national security setup.

“The irresponsible manner in which the national security is being calls for concern, if Ghana intends to maintain its democracy as the envy of the sub-region”, Journalist David Tamakloe mentioned

Rogue elements of the National security outfit; have been sending torturous correspondences to the Journalist’s phone, warning him to watch his back.

On Friday April 19, 2024, an unidentified phone number, ‘0538884674’ sent a video to the Whatsup contact of Mr Tamakloe, with accompanying message “what if you experience this”.

The content of the video depicts a horrific scene in which unidentified military goons, were subjecting innocent civilians to torturous assault at a secret location.

The same unanimous messenger sent another message on Monday 23, to the Journalist, warning him that ‘they’ are not joking and that he should watch his back.

The unsolicited phone bugging was preceded by midnight calls which was recorded at 1.21 am, from another number, 0243161886, has been traced to one Henry Osei-Tutu, known to be a special assistance to the National Security Coordinator.

Henry has been linked to a recent arrest of a blogger called, Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas.

Meanwhile, Henry has refused to pick repeated calls placed to him by Mr Tamakloe, to explain his suspicious midnight calls.

WhatsUp news, has gathered that Henry is the Deputy Director of the National Signal Bureau, the Cyber arms of the National Security.

The Editor-In Chief, suspects that the operation is connected to recent publications by ‘WhatsUp News’ revealing money laundering scandal in the government, through the Gold 4 Oil policy and other blockbuster corruption revelations under the investigative radar of the Newspaper.

Ghana is among countries listed as patrons of the notorious Israeli spyware called, “pergasus” which is used to hack into nearly every phone.

The spyware is deemed as the most sophisticated modern mobile phone interception in the world.

The notorious Pergasus spyware, was the same one used to hack into the phone of Washington based Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, who was brutally murdered in a Saudi consulate in Turkey on October 2, 2018.

The Editor, David Tamakloe, who was alert chose not to answer the phone calls.

A recent expose by the WhatsUp News that, Ghana’s National Security Coordinator, Edward Asomani, a British National squatting at the apex of Ghana’s intelligence establishment, could also be linked to the ongoing harassment of the investigate editor.

Mr Tamakloe, has since the incident sought the advice of seasoned National Security And Intelligence specialists about how to manage his security. The Editor is currently observing very strict security protocols.

Monday April 8, 2024, WhatsUp News broke the story of Asomani’s British citizenship and Ghana’s vulnerability to espionage.

The publication again, followed it up with another revelation that the coordinator, has been scarce in the office shortly after the story.

In respect of the Gold 4 Oil scandal, which is still under investigation by the news team, the story which is expected to catalogue explosive acts concerning some powerful people in government, including the presidency, Officials of government agencies, namely: BOST, PMMC and Bank of Ghana.

Other powerful people featuring the G4O investigation, includes a double identity man of God, Oil and Gold Brokers and some foreign entities based in the United Arab Emirates.

Throughout all its publications, WhatsUp News, has sought to contact all the parties involves in order to run a fair and balanced story. The National Security Coordinator, has failed to respond to consistent attempts to speak on the matter.

The Akufo-Addo/Bawumiah government has been on the bad side of global media ratings, with record constantly showing the country’s poor performance, as far as media freedom is concern.
