National Security Minister Kan Dapaah takes Ghc6 Million Monthly for Bawku Conflict – MP reveals
Accusations Surface Regarding Minister Kan Dapaah's Handling of Conflict Funds
Hon Mahama Ayariga has dropped a bombshell, alleging that the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah, is taking an astounding six million Ghana Cedis (GHC 6,000,000.00) every month, amounting to eighteen million Ghana Cedis (GHC 18,000,000.00) each quarter, purportedly to address the ongoing Bawku conflict.
Ayariga made these allegations during an interview on Waezor TV this morning, describing the situation as “outrageous.” He accused the ruling NPP government, particularly the National Security Ministry, of exploiting the dire situation in Bawku for financial gain.
“The NPP government, after mismanaging the Bawku conflict, has found a way to benefit financially from the suffering of the people,” Ayariga stated. He emphasized that the funds allocated for managing the conflict are instead being used to enrich certain individuals within the government.
The Bawku conflict, a long-standing ethnic dispute in the Upper East Region of Ghana, has seen sporadic violence and tension over the years. Efforts to resolve the conflict have been met with varying degrees of success, and the recent allegations raise serious questions about the integrity of those handling the situation.
National Security Minister Kan Dapaah has yet to respond to these allegations. However, the revelation has sparked outrage among the public and calls for a thorough investigation into the utilization of funds intended for conflict resolution.
Political analysts suggest that these accusations could further strain the credibility of the NPP government, already facing scrutiny over its handling of national security issues. The public eagerly awaits an official response from the National Security Ministry and potentially, a detailed audit of the funds allocated for the Bawku conflict.
As the situation unfolds, the citizens of Bawku and the broader Ghanaian public remain hopeful that transparency and justice will prevail, ensuring that resources are used appropriately to bring lasting peace to the troubled region.
