In a bold move aimed at enhancing discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness among Ghanaian graduates, the National Service Authority (NSA) is set to roll out a new initiative dubbed the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP).
The programme, which includes basic military training for all National Service Personnel (NSPs), was first announced by President John Dramani Mahama during his maiden State of the Nation Address.

“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry. It is one of the critical interventions needed to reset the country—especially in preparing our youth for nation-building,” Mr. Gyamfi said.

Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, who represented the Military High Command at the meeting, affirmed the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to the programme. He assured the NSA of the military’s full cooperation and readiness to deliver the required training when the programme officially launches.
The training is scheduled to begin on August 3, 2025, and will run for up to two months. It will include basic composite drills, physical exercises, and discipline-oriented routines.
Authorities believe the NSERRP will play a pivotal role in shaping a new generation of service personnel equipped with the skills, resilience, and mindset necessary for Ghana’s development.
