The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Adenta has in partnership with the Adentan Municipal Assembly engaged stakeholders and residents of Ogbojo in Adenta to ensure prioritization and implementation of developmental projects in the community.
The European Union (EU) funded programme is aimed at supporting the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) – Ghana’s national anti-corruption strategy ratified by Parliament in 2014.
The Municipal NCCE Director, Sylvia Osei-Bonsu, explained that the Social Auditing engagement with residents is to enable them to develop the interest in monitoring and assessing ongoing projects that the government is undertaking in the community and to participate in the governance process.
She noted that the engagement would enable residents to develop the need and interest get involved in developmental projects, make follow-ups and ask relevant questions about ongoing projects that can lead to the successful implementation of such projects
“Through this social Auditing, we have achieved some success. Some uncompleted and abandoned projects have been completed in the municipality. This is the second engagement with residents in the municipality, in due time, we will engage with all residents in the electoral areas within the Adentan Municipality,” she stated.
On developmental projects, the Assemblywoman for the area, Gladys Addo Osei, indicated that with her effort and persistency, the government through the Assembly has undertaken numerous developmental projects in the community within a short period.
She said, her tenure in office has overseen the successful implementation of projects, such as Ultra-modern Polyclinic that issues NHIS cards, roads, drainages systems among others, some of which, are still ongoing in the Ogbojo community.

She further lauded the government for the implementation of massive projects in the area within a short period, adding that, her outfit would ensure smooth completion of all uncompleted projects in the community.
Addo Osei advised residents to be good citizens, exercise their civic rights during elections, and contribute their quota to ensure quality and successful implementation of projects in the area to the development of the country.
Head of Environmental Sanitation at the Assembly Zonal office, Andrew Aborbey, urged residents to continue to observe the safety protocols in order to avoid contracting and spreading the COVID-19 and other deadly diseases.
He also advised them to be environmentally disciplined to ensure a better and healthy lifestyle.
A 5-member volunteering committee was appointed to oversee the implementation of the project. They include; Gladys Addo Osei, Lamisi Agbada, Alexander Nii Obadai Anang, Elvis Kofi Mensah and Mary Agovi Odamttey.
The Accountability, Rule of law and Anti-corruption programme (ARAP) was launched by the NCCE in 2016 to engage residents in electoral areas to participate, be interested and ensure smooth implementation of projects in the community.
The ARAP was to support the Government in the fight against corruption
The programme is designed to promote good governance and support national reform, in order to enhance accountability and strengthen anti-corruption efforts across the country.
It was designed to work alongside relevant government institution and other strategic national stakeholders to reduce corruption while improving accountability and respect for existing legal structures.
Present at the programme were Heads of Departments at Assembly, Unit Committee members, staff of NCCE and Assembly, residents of Ogbojo, among others.
