NDC and Mahama pay Respects at Tinubu’s Aide’s Funeral

Reports indicated that over 20 Nigerian Governors and Senators traveled to Ghana, specifically the Volta Region, to pay their respects to Divine Dzegbla.

The opposition party’s leader, John Dramani Mahama, recently led a delegation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the funeral service of the mother of a key aide to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Mahama and his entourage were among the 2,000 mourners gathered at Ho Jubilee Park in the Volta Region, where he has been campaigning for the upcoming general election on December 7.

Also in attendance at the funeral were Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, high-ranking officials from the Nigerian Government, including the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, State Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners of Police.

Reports indicated that over 20 Nigerian Governors and Senators traveled to Ghana, specifically the Volta Region, to pay their respects to Divine Dzegbla.

International dignitaries, including prominent business leaders, arrived in the country on chartered flights to attend the funeral of Mr. Dzegbla’s late mother, Madam Theodosia Adzo Demanya Dzegbla, who passed away at the age of 88 (1936-2024).

After a burial service at the Elorm Parish of the E. P Church, the deceased’s remains were airlifted by helicopter from the Volta Regional Capital, Ho, to Anyako in the Keta Municipality for internment.

Mr. Dzegbla, a renowned Ghanaian business tycoon based in Nigeria, is known for his strong ties with leaders across Africa and his successful business ventures worldwide.

During the ceremony, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, a former Governor of Ekiti, praised Mr. Dzegbla’s dedication to Pan-Africanism, emphasizing his contributions to the continent’s progress and prosperity.

The event coordinator, Mr. Kojo Demanya, highlighted the significant turnout of multinational business leaders and political figures, underscoring the potential for new opportunities arising from their presence at the funeral.

Notable cultural performances, cuisine, and hospitality were showcased during the funeral, providing guests from various nations with a memorable experience of Ghanaian customs and traditions.

The late Theodosia Demanya Dzegbla, a respected educator and dedicated church member, was honored for her lifelong commitment to service and compassion towards others.

Tributes and condolences poured in from high-ranking Nigerian officials, including the President, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, and the Ministry of Finance, reflecting the impact of her life’s work.

The funeral ceremony concluded successfully, with attendees expressing gratitude for the opportunity to commemorate and honor the esteemed matriarch’s legacy.
