NDC Condemns demolition of Raymond Archer’s Printing Press
… Says it’s a Political Witch-Hunt
Leading opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the recent demolition of Raymond Archer’s Printing Press among others at the Trade Fair Cente, La in Accra. The party has described the move as a witch-hunt against political opponents.
The NDC asserted that, the demolition is part of schemes orchestrated by the government to destroy businesses associated with the party.
“It is our considered view that, this demolishing forms part of a grand scheme targeted at destroying all businesses with some form of perceived leanings to the National Democratic Congress. We have witnessed the unlawful closure of financial institutions, radio stations, media houses, construction companies and several other local businesses.”
They asserted that the activity was unnecessary, and only perpetrated by the government against hardworking entrepreneurs with opposition political leanings.
“This is clearly an act of cowardice driven by Akufo Addo’s insatiable desire for vindictiveness and nepotistic totalitarianism. This Demolishing exercise constitute an act of economic brutality targeted at a hardworking young businessman.”
The party therefore demanded the immediate cessation of these exercise or face stiff resistance from the people.
“As a matter of urgency, we demand an immediate cessation of these acts of provocation and intimidation of innocent citizens. President Akufo Addo must be reminded that when injustice and impunity becomes law, resistance becomes an inevitable duty of the people.”
