Five business tycoons who are members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have picked their nomination forms to show their readiness to battle for the chairmanship position in the Greater Accra Region.
This follows the opening of nominations on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the regional office for aspirants who are ready and interested in contesting in for various positions in the party.
Those who have so far picked forms to contest for the chairmanship position include the incumbent Joseph Ade Cocker; Ashie Moore, former MP for Adenta; Daniel Amartey Mensah, former MCE for LeKMA; Jerry Acquaye Thomas, former Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the party and Shiekh Yahaya Kundow, current regional Treasurer.
GhanaNewsOnline.com.gh has gathered that the current state of the NDC in the Greater Accra Region requires people who are poised to work hard to bring back the seven parliamentary seats the party lost to the ruling NPP in the last elections.
A number of aspirants who have the intent to contest for various positions have already started moving from one constituency to the other campaigning for votes ahead of the regional Delegates Conference.
We gathered that over 74 aspirants have so far picked forms seeking for endorsement from constituents in the region to enable them file by the deadline week.
Also, the current regional executives who want to retain their positions are busy meeting constituency executives in all 34 constituencies across the region trying to convince them to retain them in office for another four year term.
Per the party guide lines, three days (Monday to Wednesday) is set aside for picking of nomination forms and next week Monday and Tuesday has also been set aside for the aspirants to submit their forms; to this end, interested aspirants are trooping in and out of the NDC regional office for various reasons.
