NDC Ga-Dangme commends John Mahama for decision to probe Ga Lands
The Caucus expressed disappointment over the indiscriminate grabbing and looting of Ga land by the appointees of the current NPP government
The Ga-Dangme Caucus of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has eulogized the flagbearer of the party, President John Dramani Mahama, over his decision to set up a Commission to investigate the issue of looted State-Lands in the Ga state.
In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Danny Annan, the Caucus explained their excitement at the decision of former President Mahama to institute a commission to look into the looting and sharing of Ga lands under the Akufo-Addo led government.
“It is indeed heart-warming news to the Ga-Dangme Caucus of the National Democratic Congress, to note that our Presidential Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in his recent victory acceptance speech in Tamale, indicated his intention to set up a commission to investigate and make appropriate recommendations on the vexed issue of state-land looting, with emphasis on Ga-Dangme state Lands,” the statement noted.
The statement also indicated that the compulsory acquisition and expropriation of lands in the Greater Accra Region by government over the years has regrettably eroded the inalienable rights of land ownership of the Ga-Dangme people.
The Caucus expressed disappointment over the indiscriminate grabbing and looting of Ga land by the appointees of the current NPP government and therefore believes setting up a commission of enquiry is in place and of much importance.
“Even more disappointing, and terribly baffling, is the awful spectacle of NPP government officials and their corresponding attendees and party apparatchiks, busily grabbing and looting Ga State-lands with careless abundone, a situation that best could be described as a gross betrayal of stewardship and a grievous threat to our very survival as Ga-Dangme indegenes,” the statement noted.
The statement further indicated that, Ex-President Mahama’s commitment to deal comprehensively with the issue has hit the right chord and resonated with the caucus’ singular quest for justice.
The Caucus therefore commends the NDC Presidential Flagbearer and assured him of their unwavering support during the 2024 general elections for the full realization of this initiative.
