Young, dynamic and vibrant Israel Nornyibey caused a stir in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency on Thursday morning when he stormed the constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to file his nomination forms. This is to enable him contest for the Parliamentary Candidate position of the party towards the 2020 general elections.
Hundreds of people including the youth and the elderly from the various suburbs of the constituency voluntarily thronged the Kwabenya School park early in the morning, and accompanied by brass band music and a sea of motor riders, they escorted Israel in a procession to the constituency office where he was welcomed by members of the constituency election committee some of the constituency executives.
Along the routes to their destination, Israel was the toast of almost every passerby including motorists and pedestrians alike as they wave and chanted his name while doing the “yeresesamu” sign with their left and right forefingers to indicate that the time has come for change in the political leadership of Dome Kwabenya constituency.
Also in the crowed were known personalities in the constituency including former party executives, former government appointees, well-wishers and opinion leaders in the Dome Kwabenya community who were also seen actively rallying support for Israel.
The Constituency Election Committee led Thomas Dodzi Tsoekeku took time to vert all the documents sheet-by-sheet to ensure were accurately completed and accompanied by the relevant documents.
Israel told the Committee that his desire to see the fortunes of the NDC bettered in the constituency is what drove him into the contest and that it is a race he intends to run to the fullest. He said the time has come for the NDC to take its rightful place in the constituency and that place is to win the parliamentary seat. He said he has a “Game Changer” agenda of a message that would appeal to the delegates and influence them to make the right choice.
Addressing his followers shortly after the presentation, Israel urged them to look out for his game changing messages that are sure to send them to the Promised Land in 2020.
“The change we need for grassroot empowerment, security, job creation and recognition is finally here. I am prepped up to lead and implement the change that we seek for the victory that has eluded our dear constituency all these while. I invite you to join me as we set the wheel in motion,” he stated to loud applaud from the enthusiastic crowd.
By the day’s event, Israel, the first to declare his intentions to contest in the primaries in the constituency has also became the first to file for the slot.
A marketing consultant and businessman by profession, Israel said he is in the race to help increase the fortunes of the NDC in the 2020 general elections, and to help improve the infrastructure deficit in the constituency. He admitted though that “it is not a do or die affair” but the party’s victory which is paramount.
He said he has the vision to “work hard to halt the dominance of the NPP and unseat the current MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, by winning the parliamentary seat and maximizing the numbers in the presidential elections in 2020 and beyond.
Among others, he promised to arouse the spirit of party members by bringing on board innovative programs which will bring both the aged and the youth into the NDC in the Dome Kwabenya constituency to make the party vibrant and attractive to all.
“I am focused on uniting all party members in the constituency by working hand in hand with the constituency executives, Ward Coordinators and the branch executives to enhance unity among the grassroots in the constituency as a whole to avoid apathy, and, mobilize the best human and material resources to execute an attractive and well-coordinated campaign for the 2020 electioneering campaign for both the parliamentary and presidential elections,” he stated.
He has also pledged to decentralize the campaign so as to cover most of the teaming youth in the constituency and bring them under the NDC.
