NDC to Elect Flagbearer and Parliamentary Candidates on May 13

 

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slated Saturday, May 13, 2023, for its presidential and parliamentary primaries to elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general elections.

General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced this at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Per the timetable released, interested individuals are expected to pick up nomination forms from the party’s website or its headquarters.

The filing of nominations would take place between Wednesday, February 22 to Friday, 24.

The submission and filing of forms will also take place from Monday, March 20, 2023, to Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Vetting of the aspirants will be held from Monday, March 27, to Wednesday, March 29.

Parliamentary forms would be sold at GH¢5,000 and filing fees at GH¢40,000.

Likewise, presidential forms would go for GH¢30,000 and filing fees pegged at GH¢500,000.

However, the party has stated that women and persons living with disabilities will pay 50% of all charges should they decide to pick up forms to contest.

According to the General Secretary, both presidential and parliamentary elections would be held concurrently in all constituencies.

The party also emphatically stated that Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi (SALL) are not excluded from the elections.

Although no presidential candidate hopeful has formally declared their intention to contest, there are indications that former president John Dramani Mahama, who was the presidential candidate of the party in the 2020 election, would take another shot at the position.

A former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, who served under the late president John Evans Atta Mills and president Mahama from 2009 to 2013, is also rumoured to be lacing his boots.

Also, former Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, is also likely to contest.
