NDC used Hospital Cash for their election project – Security Minister

The Minister of State in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong, has accused the John Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of diverting monies meant for the construction of a hospital complex in Abetifi the capital of the Kwahu East District Assembly and some other District to conduct a research on who would win the 2016 general elections.

According to Acheampong who is also the Member of Parliament for the Abetifi constituency, the previous government procured some loan facility from the British government for the construction of hopitals across the country. The grant according to. him was actually received by the then government of Ghana, however, there is nothing to point to as benefits of the loan which which is going to be repaid with the tax payers money.

Bryan Acheampong made this known during the maiden meet the press section organized by the Abetifi District Assembly at the District Assembly Hall in Abetifi.

The section is aimed at creating the platform for the District Chief Executive to account for his stewardship since the NPP government took over the affairs of the country over the last three years.

“The construction of Abetifi hospital was awarded for contract by the previous government after securing a loan facility from the British government to construct some hospitals across the country including Abetifi, the sad news is that the then government diverted some portion of the loan facility to conduct their research ahead of the 2016 general elections as to who will win the elections 2016.

“Both the British and Ghana government lunched a separate investigation into the matter to find out why the projects were not completed and the whereabout of the money results was that about six million dollars was spent on an election research which was far from the initial plan,” he explained.

The MP who applaud the assembly for the numerous projects exhibited assured the chiefs and people of Abethe of the willing power of Nana Akufo-Addo to complete the project from the NDCs 30% work done.

“We as NPP will not seat for this hopital to remain as it is beyond 2020, it is a shame on us for not boasting of a single medical practisioner in a District with a population close to 100,000. Government has after the investigation procured another loan facility to complete the project, we will very soon see the contractor working on our hospital,” he assured the gathering.

According to the Minister, the leadership of the assembly is working to achieve a stated goal which is to lay a strong foundation for a happy educated society in Kwahu by the year 2030 and also to make the Kwahu block a number one society in the country by 2040.

He stressed that the developmental needs of the people cannot be met overnight as it requires a committed leadership to help lead the country to the promise Land which the npp government is known for.
