New DCE puts Juaboso District Assembly back on track

Disclosing this to this medium, newly elected DCE, Kwabena Adjei-Asante stated that since October 29 2021, when he assumed office, a lot has been achieved by the Assembly in this short period, lack of funds notwithstanding.

With close to one year of dormancy as a result of the absence of a substantive District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Assembly it has bounced back to action since late October, 2021.

Disclosing this to this medium, newly elected DCE, Kwabena Adjei-Asante stated that since October 29 2021, when he assumed office, a lot has been achieved by the Assembly in this short period, lack of funds notwithstanding.

According to him the Assembly has paid most contractors it owed over the years, while constructing six (6) mechanized boreholes for six communities.

The beneficiary communities are, Agyemandiem, Eteso, Sanyere Ano, Juaboso Fankyenebra and Kwabenakwakrom. He indicated that the assembly is in the act of constructing two different classrooms and health centers |(CHIP compound) at Africa, Atasu, Kefas and Nzezan to meet the educational and health needs of the people. He stated that these and many more, the assembly intends to embark upon from now till June, when other plans and projects will be rolled out for the rest of the year. Also, the Assembly intends to build separate classroom blocks at Danyame and Mantukwa.

LATE  ARRIVAL OF COMMON FUNDS, IGF

Hon Kwabena Adjei pointed out that the last trench and first quarter of the year common fund arrived in November last year. And it is with this, he paid outstanding debts to contractors and also embark on those new projects. According to him, the common fund could not cater for those debts. However, the outstanding ones he settled first.

The DCE was quick to point out that the inefficient common fund has to be supplemented with Their Internally Generate Fund (IGF) which he said, was equally insufficient because the Assembly relies on the two (2) markets in the District – Bonsu Nkwanta and Juaboso.

PEOPLE UNWILLING TO PAY TAXES

Hon Kwabena Adjei noted that people are highly expectant of development of all sorts, yet they are not prepared to pay their corresponding taxes to meet these demands.

“Payment of taxes is indeed a problem here! he stressed”.

He however appealed to the people pay their taxes and also give him and the assembly prayers and support to enable them develop the district.

HR MANAGER AT LARGE

While saying that he has so far had a very good working relation with workers at the Assembly the DCE mentioned that the head of the Human Resource Department had been at large for some time now. However, since his deputies are around, he has been working with them. All the same, the assembly has reported his conduct to his superiors at the Regional Administration,

FIGHTING CRIME – HIGH WAY ROBBERY

Hon Kwabena Adjei pointed out that due to the rise in high way robbery of late, the assembly intends to put up a modern police station in the forest stretch between Nkwanta and burrier where these robberies have been so intensive. This project, he said it will be financed with stool land revenue as against it previous use for services in fuel and travelling allowances of workers, stressing that there will be a clear departure from this, with the funds channeled for development.

GALAMSEY BROUHAHA

Asked who are the actual galamsayers up strain the Benzebata River, running through the town, which has some milky as a result, the DCE said he was not aware of who are actually behind the exercise. Whereas our informants point accusing fingers at Chinese galamsayers, others points to local guys.

The DCE maintained that efforts are under way to flush out. According to him, the prationers are not at work by day but active by might. Meanwhile residents around the mining sites they have sleepless nights as a result of the activities of the galamsayers, and called for strong government intervention. “Government must come in because we are suffering!” They stated”.
