NHIS To Register 20m People

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has introduced a new application known as MyNHIS to assist the public enroll and renew their membership in the comfort of their homes.

According to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), managers of the NHIS, with the introduction of the new app, the scheme was targeting to register about 20 million people by the end of the year.

The app operates on both Android and other smartphones and it helps one to get the idea of the benefit packages and also what the NHIS covers.

Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, disclosed this in an interview with journalists after the staff of the insurance scheme embarked on a street procession in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis to educate the people on the new app.

The Deputy CEO was hopeful that the introduction of the new App would also help to achieve universal health coverage by the year 2030.

“The app will also help one to know providers in certain enclaves, reduce administrative costs and provide one with the medicines list,” she explained.

She said her outfit was committed to ensuring an efficient system to deliver the highest quality of service in the healthcare system.

She, therefore, appealed to members of the public who have not yet registered with the scheme to do so to enjoy its benefits.

She urged the staff of the NHIS to go all out to educate and register new members onto the scheme to achieve the intended target.
