NIA workers to strike Oct. 21 over allowance dispute
As part of the preparations, all members are instructed to wear red armbands and red T-shirts to work from the day before the strike.
The Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) of TUC (Ghana) NIA Division has announced plans for an industrial action on Monday, 21 October 2024, to protest government’s failure to address their request for Institution Specific Allowances.
In a letter dated October 16, 2024, co-signed by its co-signed by Divisional Secretary Adu Kyeremeh Kwabena and Divisional Chairman Francis Bangfudeme Nyuzaghl and addressed to the Executive Secretary of the NIA, the union noted that the action is in line with directives from their mother union.
The letter stated: “This is in line with the directives issued by our mother Union… due to the failure of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), representing Government and Employer to honour our request for Institution Specific Allowances.”
As part of the preparations, all members are instructed to wear red armbands and red T-shirts to work from the day before the strike.
“All members of the PSWU-NIA Division will not report to work on Monday, October 21st, 2024, in solidarity with the Mother Union,” the letter added.
