Nketia-Ofosu Ampofo contest: NDC needs to redefine the future it believes in – Agumenu
“The interesting thing is that I don’t only understand this but equally appreciate it from the perspectives of President Rawlings on General Asiedu Nketia and Chairman Ampofo,”
Former Special Assistant to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Donald Senanu Agumenu has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) needs at this moment, to redefine the future the party believes in and chart a robust governance framework for national development.
Regarding the upcoming contest between Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo for the National Chairman position of the NDC, he said when two products are good for a competitive market, the dynamics of the market forces would either reposition one or necessitate a person to reexamine some exceptional qualities of the two.
In the event, he said, one would appreciate the unique selling proposition of each and decide on which one could be your star brand with a competitive edge to lead the market.
“The interesting thing is that I don’t only understand this but equally appreciate it from the perspectives of President Rawlings on General Asiedu Nketia and Chairman Ampofo,” he said in a writeup.
He added, “We are on a complex path that needs a bold decision to distinguish the brand we need at this challenging moment to redefine the future we believe in as a party and chart a robust governance framework for national development.”
The NDC as part of its preparations ahead of the 2024 general elections will be electing its national executives next year.
Mr Asiedu Nketia is seeking to unseat the incumbent National Chair Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
Whereas Mr Asiedu Nketia believes he has the strength to withstand the ‘marauding’ New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Ofosu-Amofo also believes he presents the best qualities to be the National again and hence should be voted.
