“It’s sad to see the percentage of our older adults aged 60 and above who die poor, and the number of young men wasting their future on hard drugs, gambling, prostitution, and other social vices due to inadequate job opportunities in this country,” he stated.

The National Liberation Congress (NLC) and the Ghana Alternative Party (GAP) have formed an alliance to contest the 2024 general elections, aiming to govern the country from January 7th, 2025.

In his speech, the Founder and Leader of the NLC, Osahene Nana Afyei Boateng, disclosed that after thoroughly assessing the political landscape of Ghana, they decided to align with the GAP due to their shared political ideologies, values, principles, and the vibrant nature of their leadership.

He assured that if granted power in the 2024 general elections, the alliance would ensure that all raw materials and natural resources are processed locally to reduce importation to 10 percent, strengthen the economy, eradicate unemployment, and compel factories to operate on a 24-hour triple-shift basis.

“It’s sad to see the percentage of our older adults aged 60 and above who die poor, and the number of young men wasting their future on hard drugs, gambling, prostitution, and other social vices due to inadequate job opportunities in this country,” he stated.

According to Osahene Nana Afyei Boateng, the current state of the nation requires revolutionaries, pragmatists, solution-oriented individuals, disciplinarians, and above all, God-fearing young people to steer the nation in the right direction.

Mr. Stephen Atubiga, the Founder and Leader of the National Liberation Congress, responded to the alliance by noting that as the NLC continues to organize its structures for the 2024 election, they have attracted admiration from other political parties that believe they can collaborate towards a common goal.

“Today marks the official acceptance and announcement of an alliance with the Ghana Alternative Party (GAP) for the December 7th, 2024 election. All structures, members, national executives, and regional and constituency executives of the GAP party will be working with the NLC to secure victory for the NLC,” Mr. Atubiga stated.

He further mentioned that the Ghana Alternative Party would align with any decisions made by the NLC towards the 2024 election, with the shared goal of victory for the NLC.

“The alliance between the NLC and the GAP is solely for this year’s elections, and it will end after the election. The future direction of the alliance will depend on whether the NLC wins or loses the election,” he added.

However, he also noted that if a second round of elections is required, the GAP party will remain in alliance with the NLC and follow any direction the NLC decides to take.

He stated that the NLC continues to pray and hope that the leadership of its mother party, the NOC, will bring the party back on track, focusing on rewarding loyalty, pulling people along, and building capacity.

“This 2024 election will either vindicate our disagreement with the party’s direction or prove us wrong. JJ never dies—JJ’s legacy and vision continue. JJ forever.”
