No Appointee of Mine Will Be Allowed to Buy State Assets – Mahama Pledges
John Mahama’s comments follows a recent public uproar on the alleged sale of state properties by some politicians, most of whom are affiliates of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP).
His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated his commitment of ensuring that no member of his government will be allowed to buy any state assets.
According to John Mahama, the increasing surge in politicians purchasing public assets is very alarming, hence, his pledge to put a stop to the menace that has characterised the Nana Addo/Bawumia led government.
Former President Mahama made this known during a meeting with the members of the press on Sunday, July 7, 2024 in Accra.
John Mahama’s comments follows a recent public uproar on the alleged sale of state properties by some politicians, most of whom are affiliates of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP).
He indicated that, “Appointees and public office holders must change their attitudes. That is what we are going to insist on that people that we appoint are modest people, they are humble, they will open up to the people, and they’ll do the things that will make the lives of our young people better. And so we’re gonna hold them to a higher criteria of service. You must not go and buy state property.”
He added that, anyone serving in his government will not be allowed to buy a state asset.
He stated, “Anybody serving in my government will not be allowed to buy a state asset. Nobody serving in my government will buy a state asset. Vehicles or cars or buildings or land or anything, nobody serving in our government will be allowed to buy a state asset.”
According to Mr. Mahama, it is expedient to protect state properties from persons with ill intentions towards the progress of the country.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote him into power come December 7 to effect all the promises he has made to Ghanaians.
“The time for change is now. A vote for Mahama and the NDC is a vote that will transform the living conditions of Ghanaians”.
