No Casualty after Fuel Tanker Fails Brake
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the brakes of the fuel tanker failed when it was attempting to climb a steep hill which resulted in the vehicle reversing into the ditch.
There was no casualty on Monday morning when a DAF fuel tanker carrying diesel with registration number GR- 7764-P lost its brakes and veered into a ditch near a petrol station at Odorkor Tarrazo.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the brakes of the fuel tanker failed when it was attempting to climb a steep hill which resulted in the vehicle reversing into the ditch.
In a statement it confirmed that there was a diesel spill; however, the prompt response by firefighters from the Dansoman fire station to the scene curtailed an explosion.
“The crew arrived at the scene in good time to find an overturned DAF fuel tanker with registration number GR- 7764-P spilling diesel from its tank. The Crew used foam concentrate to prevent sparks and managed the spillage.”
It also confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the accident.
It added, “The tanker was partially damaged, but a significant amount of diesel was salvaged and transferred to another tank.”
