No decision yet on transport fare increment – GPRTU

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has clarified that it has not made any decisions regarding a potential increase in transport fares.

This announcement is to quell recent rumors and speculation suggesting that the union would be raining transport fares.

According to the union, despite the recent surge in fuel prices, it has decided to keep transport fares unchanged whilst it continues to engage all relevant stakeholders to determine the appropriate fares that will not be detrimental to the public.

“Even though fuel prices have recently seen upward adjustments, transport fares remain same until such a decision is reached and same communicated to the public”, the union noted in a statement released in Accra on Sunday, July 7 2024, and jointly signed by its Deputy National Public Relations Officer, Samuel Amoah, and a national communications team member, Eric Ashrifi Aryee,

According to the GPRTU, it is their policy to communicate any fare adjustments publicly, ensuring that passengers are well informed and prepared.

It urged commuters to disregard any information suggesting a fare hike.
