The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has plans to win back their Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency, Cynthia Morrison after she announced her intention to contest the Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

Morrison lost to Christopher Arthur in the NPP parliamentary primary in the Agona West constituency, dimming her chance of contesting again on the ticket of the party in the December polls.

“I will go independent when the time comes so that I will be able to finish every work I have started in this constituency…The development of Agona is my priority and so whoever you choose to vote for, whether Mahama or Bawumia is none of my business but vote for me to complete all infrastructure works I have started.”

Reacting to this, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong said they were going to reason with the lawmaker to reconsider her decision and rejoin their camp.

This strategy is geared at actualizing their quest to win a historic third term in office as he deems her force significant in achieving that.

“As a political party, for this year’s election which has been our mantra, we are going to break the eight. In breaking the eight means we need to do exceptional things and bring everybody on board. Our objective is to make sure that all our party faithful are brought on board.

“So, taking steps that will make sure that at least we engage those who are going independent is something that we are going to do rather than whether to write them a letter or not to write them a letter. What we want to do is to bring everybody on board…the party leadership will continue to engage her,” he is quoted as saying by CNR.
