The Communication Director of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has reiterated that the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government is transforming the Ghanaian education system and not only building infrastructure to follow the old style of teaching.

He made this statement while addressing the media at the New Patriotic Party campaign office on April 9, 2024.

His statement comes as a rebuttal to debunk the Former President who is currently the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama’s claims on the credibility and feasibility of the current education structural reforms in Ghana like the Free SHS policy and the one-student one-tablet initiative as well as insulting the intelligence of students WASSCE results.

“It is worthy to note that ever since the former president made this unfortunate comment, various organizations including the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and parents have condemned him and asked him to provide evidence to his claims, which he has failed to do (as obviously there is no evidence to that effect)”, he alluded.

Mr. Aboagye emphasized that the need for a nation to thrive in development is to transform itself into a modern productive player in the global market to get its educational policies right.

“The United States of America did it over a century ago, as did Japan, Britain did it eighty years (80) years ago, and the nations that we started life with, over sixty (60) years ago, like Korea, Malaysia and Singapore, have all done it. We must follow suit.
It is for this reason that, systematically and deliberately this government has been working to transform the various levels in our education sector looking at both the soft and hard issues. We are not only building classrooms and schools, but we have also been looking at all facets of our education,” Miracle said.

Mr. Aboagye further disclosed that, through the GETFUND, the Akufo-Addo Bawumia-led government is executing one thousand, two hundred and seventy (1,270) infrastructural interventions, setting new standards in Kindergarten (KG) schools to make learning and interaction easier.

“The Ghana National Digital Literacy Project (NDLP) is ensuring that every student is equipped to thrive in the global digital economy. The heart of this endeavour lies in our primary schools, where the foundation of learning is laid. Phase I focuses on establishing SMART LABs in seven hundred (700) public schools across the nation. These labs are equipped with a suite of tools, including tablets for students, content access points, projectors, robotics kits for STEM education, and essential storage and charging units”, Mr Aboagye alleged.

He noted that the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration’s goal to facilitate digital learning equipment for students cut across all board including persons with disabilities in special needs schools.

“Additionally, our commitment to inclusivity shines through, as we provide two hundred and twenty-six (226) laptops and Braille embossers to cater to the unique needs of special learners in our Special Needs Schools,” he mentioned
