NPP MP in Academic Fraud

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for one of the constituencies in the Eastern Region (Name Withheld), has been caught in academic fraud.

The said MP who claims to have Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Hull University in the United Kingdom does not have any such qualification from the university.

The MP is a top member of the Finance Committee of Ghana’s Parliament and has been in Parliament since 2009.

There are murmurings within the corridors of the NPP that the MP was likely to be pursued on issues bordering on perjury.
Under the laws of Ghana presentation of false credentials to enable one to occupy public office amounts to perjury and perjury is a criminal conduct.

What is intriguing is the fact that the false profile of his academic credentials has been published on the official website of the Parliament of Ghana.

Per correspondence from Greenwich, which was affiliated to the University of Hull, London, the said MP did not complete the MBA programme.

A letter from the college signed by its Senior Executive officer said that the said MP enrolled at Greenwich School of Management and followed full-time courses leading to Postgraduate Certificate in Management (CMS) and Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) which commenced in 1998 and terminated in October 1998.

According to the letter, the said MP enrolled at the University of Hull Master of Business Administration (MBA, which commenced in June 2002 and terminated in June 2003.

Unfortunately, the said MP did not complete the MBA and was awarded a Diploma in Business Administration by the university, for the modules that he did complete.

The Inquisitor is fully aware that academic fraud issue involving that MP has come up before the National Executive Council of the NPP in the past but it was swept under the carpet.

The National Executive Council of the NPP, The Inquisitor was informed, had been furnished with a copy of the letter from Greenwich College, which was very clear on the fact that the said MP never completed his MBA programme.

The Inquisitor gathered that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had pencilled the MP for a Deputy Ministerial appointment, but was shot down upon security checks on the said MP.

A careful background check by The Inquisitor on the MP has revealed that he is a director of a Rural Bank in the Eastern Region.

The Rural Bank became cash-strapped sometime in 2012, with customers chasing the MP and other top management persons of the bank.

At the time, the MP was reported to have told the customers that he offered their monies to the campaign of the NPP and its Presidential candidate, something many saw as total lies.

The Inquisitor is reliably informed that some of the customers of the Rural Bank that the MP, who has been caught in academic fraud, is connected to, died without getting their monies from the bank.
