Cudjoe Kafui Amegah, one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates disqualified from contesting in the Parliamentary Primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region on grounds of benefiting from a curse invoked on the vetting commitee and other party gurus has appealed to his supporters to remain calm, focus and respect all structures of the party. He says he is optimistic of getting the green light to rejoin the contest soon.
The call follows a publication by adomonline.com to the effect that some aggrieved supporters had threatened to sponsor an independent candidate to contest in the impending general elections should the party hierarchy insist on imposing a Parliamentary Candidate on the Constituent against their wish.
The supporters also claimed to have had grapevine information that the party hierarchy has thrown out an appeal made by the four disqualified candidates including Cudjoe Kafui Amegah.
However, in an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh Kafui Amegah condemned and duly admonished the party sympathisers to refrain from such unwarranted statements. He explained that he and the others were not disqualified on grounds of the imaturity in the Constituency but on the grounds of benefiting from a curse which was invoked by some irritate supporters.
“This kind of act should not be encouraged, especially in a time we are awaiting the party to come out with a verdict on our appeal tendered before them. I myself together with other disqualified candidates I believe have so far not received any information as to whether or not we are cleared to contest the Primaries, so how and where did they receive such information of grapevines, lets disregard such information, rather, I will urge all party sympathisers to remain calm and have faith in the party structures as we all await to hear from the party authorities,” he stated.
“Going independent will not be in the interest of the great elephant family, we need a united front going into this crucial elections. We are all party faithfuls who wants to contribute our qouta towards the development of the party and the socioeconomic development of the ordinary people in the Constituency, one doesn’t necessarily need to become a Member of Parliament to realize his dreams and ambitions of service to his people,” Cudjoe Kafui Amega stated.
He indicated that going independent is not the option for him, stressing that he is a son of the NPP and will remain as such to the party. His alligiance has not dwindled and that he will continue to do his very best in any capacity assigned him in order to see the NPP triumph in the upcoming election.
