NPP Parl. Primaries: CEO of Morsco Mining files to Contest Fanteakwa North Seat
Chief Executive Officer of MORSCO Mining Limited, Moro Sakyimah Yakubu, yesterday filed his nomination forms to contest the Parliamentary Primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fanteakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region.
The NPP has scheduled April 25 to hold its Parliamentary Primaries in all 169 Constituencies with seating NPP Member of Parliament (MP) to elect a candidate ahead of the 2020 general elections.
In an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh after presenting his nomination forms and a bankers draft of Ghc50,000 to the Regional Elections Committee Chairman, Kwadwo Agyei Addo, at the party Constituency office Yakubu, disclosed that his decision to serve his Constituency is to redeem the people from the slavery they have been pushed into over the past twelve years by the incumbent MP for the area.
“I have not come into politics to enrich myself but to contribute my quota towards developing the Fanteakwa North, I am poised to develop this Constituency in both infrastructure and human resource development”.
Moro Sakyimah Yakubu stressed that the enthusiasm of the NPP in the Fanteakwa North after snatching the seat from the NDC has gone down drastically as most supporters feel neglected as they claimed they were sidelined after victory in 2008 when Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah was voted for to represent the Constituency in Parliament.
“Elections 2020 is crucial for us as NPP, hence require a winnable candidate like myself who is poised to approach and re-unite disgruntled teaming supporters of our great party in the Constituency mobilizing for intensified electioneering campaign not only to retain our seat but to increase votes to help retain the Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo government”.
Kaptain as he is popularly known in the Constituency promised to use his common fund if voted for to to award scholarships to teachers and nurses who accept posting to the Constituency and had work for some number of years, especially in the rural areas of the District.
He pleaded with delegates to elect someone who understands their plight and ready to go all out to prioritize their issues.
He challenged his followers to emulate his style of leadership as they are go out to solicit for votes.
The CEO who is expected to battle the position with the incumbent member of Parliament, Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah and one Freeman Agyarko. He advised his colleagues to conduct healthy political campaign.
Mr. Kwadwo Agyei Addo the chairman of the elections committee advised all aspirants to put the party first in all their endeavors ahead of the primaries, stating that the party stands tall over every individuals.
He later presented a guideline governing the Primaries to the candidate.
