NPP Parl. Primaries: Why Delegates must vote for Lawyer Opoku Boateng at Nkawkaw

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nkawkaw Constituency in the Eastern Region has been charged to vote for Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng as the Parliamentary Candidate of the party towards this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The NPP is scheduled to for its parliamentary primaries in April.

The call was made by some underprivileged people in that community including women, children, the person’s living with disability and the aged. This came up in a research conducted by ghananewsonline.com.gh. The aim was to give the citizenry the opportunity to choose among the six candidates who they want to represent them in parliament for the next four years.

According to them, Nkawkaw Constituency has been one of the strong holds of the NPP as it has always won the parliamentary seat and the presidential Elections since the beginning of the Fourth republic – they have always voted for the men for some time now and it is time for us to give women the opportunity to also contribute their quota towards the development of the constituency.

They revealed that given the opportunity to Joyce Opoku Boateng, the only woman contesting this years primaries with five other men including the sitting member of Parliament and the Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour, two former Members of Parliament Kwabena Adusei and Seth Agyei Baah who is also the Board Chair of MASLOC, the Convener of Let My Vote Count Alliance David Asante and the current Constituency Organiser Joseph Frimpong will represent their interest and also help motivate and empower the women in the constituency to take active participation in the activities of the party.

The 54 year old Joyce Opoku Boateng is a lawyer, a Human Rights Activist, the current Deputy Chief Executive of the Middle Belt Development Authority and the founder of Nimbus Foundation – an NGO focusing mainly on the rights of women and children.
