Nsafoah Poku and His Messianic Complex
Issues that must be addressed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are now being handled with authority by Mr Poku to the extent that he offers timelines as to when the power will be normalized.
There is a tendency growing within the corridors of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which if not checked would ruin the party soon.
Some people have developed the attitude of knowing everything and speaking as if they run the show on behalf of others.
Those characters have developed a sense of over-importance and could say things that do not necessarily represent the position of the government.
One such character is Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku who chairs Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee on energy.
The young man who contested for the NPP flagbearership position is all over the place making statements akin to that of a Cabinet Minister, especially with issues bothering the current energy situation.
Issues that must be addressed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are now being handled with authority by Mr Poku to the extent that he offers timelines as to when the power will be normalized.
When the ECG and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) locked horns over the current power situation, Mr. Poku as usual jumped in and enjoyed some media blitz with his position of supporting the ECG.
Although he does not hold any official government position, Mr Poku was the first to alert Ghanaians of the government’s decision to merge some of the agencies under the Ministry of Energy, some created uneasy calm among Ghanaians.
He might have good intentions in making a case for the government and his party, some of the issues he wades into are above him and must slow down and concentrate on how to generate a better energy manifesto for candidate Dr Bawumia.
For now, Mr. Poku is enjoying his media blitz and displaying nothing but a messianic complex as he speaks like someone who knows it all when it comes to energy sector matters.
He should be alerted that getting the opportunity to be Dr Bawumias Manifesto Committee on energy should not let him see himself as a repository of knowledge on energy-related matters; rather he should slow down in order not to create disaffection for the NPP and the government.
