Obour Pushes For Asante Akim South NPP Slot

“I am not availing myself for the office just for the sake of it, but to get the opportunity to serve my people, and also work hard to help our great party, the New Patriotic Party, rewrite the political history of Ghana,” he said.

Managing Director of Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffour, aka Obour, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in Asante Akim South to vote for him, asserting that the constituency needs a new face.

The former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), who is seeking the NPP parliamentary slot, has warned that the party faces a potential loss of the seat if a new candidate is not presented for the 2024 general election.

Reacting to news publications that he has lost many of his campaign coordinators to the incumbent MP, Kwaku Asante-Boateng, Obour expressed concern over what he described as “a drastic reduction in the party’s votes” in the constituency.

According to him, he has the magic wand to increase the NPP’s votes in the constituency by an additional 10,000.

He said while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has increased its votes by 6,000, the NPP only added 690 votes in the last four years.

He argued that it appears the NPP is losing ground in its traditional stronghold, and therefore wants the delegates to take this into consideration during the parliamentary primary on January 27, 2024.

Obour told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM that the constituency needs a saviour like him to turn round the fortunes of NPP.

He also denied that some of his campaign coordinators have defected to the camp of the incumbent MP. According to him, those individuals were past coordinators who are no longer delegates and have allegedly been bought by the incumbent MP.

“My passion and love for the Asante Akim South Constituency would not permit me to rest until I, through the help of the king-makers, the delegates give me the needed push to lead them to increase our parliamentary votes,” he asserted.

“I am not availing myself for the office just for the sake of it, but to get the opportunity to serve my people, and also work hard to help our great party, the New Patriotic Party, rewrite the political history of Ghana,” he said.

Obour stated that he has plans to provide skills training, and lobby for developmental projects using his extensive networks, for the constituents.

For him, the time is ripe to lead the constituency after having lost narrowly in the last NPP parliamentary primary.

He urged the delegates to vote massively for him to lead the constituency into the 2024 battle, in which the NPP would surely be victorious.
