Office of the Special Prosecutor begins investigations into Galamsey Activities

"We are able to know that something is happening. Even at the OSP, we are doing our investigation. Ours will take a bit of time to go round and ensure that money exchanged hands before going to the field. Then, we come in."

In a video posted by GH One TV on their X page on Thursday, September 26, 2024, he emphasised that the OSP will target persons who have violated the law and compromised other regulatory bodies.

“If you are not complying with the law, you have breached the law and then you incriminate the other agencies. That is when we come in. You in a forest reserve that you circumvented the process by giving somebody incentives and allowed him to be in the forest reserve.

“And ours is more difficult. The bare face of mining you see. That will be for the police and the other enforcement agencies,” he explained.

He continued, “What we call persons of significant control, if they have filled a form and say they have rather put Kojo Manu, who doesn’t have anything as the beneficial owner and let’s say when we checked the form, we realise Kojo Manu cannot even buy a bicycle. That helps us, we are able to know that something is amiss, and we are able to look for the person.

“We are able to know that something is happening. Even at the OSP, we are doing our investigation. Ours will take a bit of time to go round and ensure that money exchanged hands before going to the field. Then, we come in.”
