He explained that he and his father were led to the fetish priest by a priestest who said he would prepare chicken soup for them to eat before they could go and dig the gold.

The son has been explaining to Onua News, how the whole incident panned out.

“The fetish priest told my father before he could perform the rituals for him to mine the gold, we needed to sacrifice a sheep and if the sheep is accepted by the gods, then he can help. We went there last week Sunday and he said we should return on the Monday for him to accompany us to perform the rituals to retrieve the gold for us around 10pm.

“So, in the morning the fetish priestest told us to meet her at Kodie to visit the fetish priest at Offinso Amoawi. We arrived around 7am and he told us to wait for him to perform all the rituals so we all return to Apagya for the gold. He later told us that before he could perform the rituals, unless he kills a fowl to prepare soup for my father to eat some first so that the gold can’t harm my father.

“We questioned the request but my father asked us to give him the benefit of the doubt since he knows the spiritual world. He told us it was raining so we should sit in his veranda. He then sent his linguist to inform us that the chicken was ready so we should come and eat.

“He brought out a bowl from his back and put in the chicken and told my father the chicken is not as relevant as the soup when my father said he needed just two of the chicken. He said the power is in the soup. The moment my father tasted the chicken, he started complaining of his heart and he died within one minute,” he narrated.

The suspect is currently in the grips of the police whilst the family is demanding for justice.
