Mr Akilu Sayibu, a Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, has praised President Nana Akufo Addo on the One District one Warehouse project which was launched last week. The project, according to Mr Sayibu, will help exporters and potential exporters in terms of storage of their produce in the various Districts of Ghana.
Speaking to the media in Accra after the launch of the project by President Akufo-Addo, Mr Sayibu explained that the warehouses will help both exporters and potential exporters under the One District, One Exportable Product initiative which the Ghana Export Promotion Authority is embarking upon in all 216 Districts of Ghana.
According to the Deputy GEPA Boss, the issue of storage of farm produce came up strongly in the various Regional Seminars of GEPA regarding the One District One Export product. He therefore sees the One District One Warehouse initiative under the planting for food and jobs of the Ministry of Agriculture as a project that will be of great support to exporters in the area of warehousing.
The Ghana Export Promotion Authority is currently embarking on Stakeholder Seminars in the various Regions of Ghana on the One District One Export Product initiative aimed at increasing earnings from non traditional exports to 10billion dollars in 4years.
The regional seminars have taken place in the Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the three Northern Regions.
It is expected that the various stakeholder seminars would cover the entire regions of Ghana before the year ends.
