The recent violence began when the Youth Chief of Nanik was shot, resulting in the death of Elijah.

A second attack on Monday, September 23, sparked a reprisal attack from the Naniik community, forcing residents to flee.

Local authorities have imposed a 5:30 am to 6 pm curfew to calm the situation.

Three people are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, while others sustained snake bites during their frantic escape.
