Opinion: The Confluence of Religion and Politics: Church of Pentecost on NPP Ticket
All is because the church has abysmally failed to make an impact on its members, reducing everything to churchianity (an apparent representation of True Christianity without its convictions and principles), with wealth and status being their primary considerations.
I think this is an excellent analysis. However, considering how rotten Ghana’s political environment has become and how sadly most church leaders like Opoku Onyina and his successor as well as Prof. Mante, to name just three, have been successfully lured into that rot by Akufo-Addo and his Akyem tribal cabals, it actually makes no difference who from the church actively joins their rot!
They are already there! While some lament the shyness of Christians to get involved in politics to shed light into its moral and ethical darkness, it is increasingly clear that for a country like Ghana, it will still be a mirage.
For if the current at least 70% Christian representation in Ghana’s politics has made absolutely no difference, making it 100% will achieve nothing either.
All is because the church has abysmally failed to make an impact on its members, reducing everything to churchianity (an apparent representation of True Christianity without its convictions and principles), with wealth and status being their primary considerations.
And these considerations are, undoubtedly the same for African politicians, in particular- So choosing church leaders for high level politics will change absolutely nothing except perhaps create a huge division in the church landscape if tact and wisdom are not applied.
But both are unfortunately grossly lacking in Ghana under Akufo-Addo, being reduced to obscurity by political power.
