OPPOSITION LEADER: Situation Report on Deployment of Troops along the Ghana/Togo Border – An Owula Mangortey observation

I rise to Speakout about the Ghana Government’s deployment of troops along the Ghana/Togo border.

Presidential elections will be held in Togo on the 22nd of February, 2020.

Accordingly, as credible S&As confirm, there will be deployment of Ghanaian Military Personnel, including Defence Intelligence Personnel, Police and Immigration Personnel along the borders of the Volta and Oti Regions from 19th February, 2020.

The OPS objectives are to:

(a) Curb any spillage into Ghana incase of any incident in Togo.

(b). Monitor Togolese Citizens who might cross into Togo to vote.

(c). Get Military and Police personnel within the Volta and Oti Regions to be conversant with unapproved routes within our borders in preparation towards 2020 elections in Ghana.
