The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has voiced its dissatisfaction with the decision by Organised Labour to suspend its nationwide strike initially planned for Friday, 10 October 2024.

“We believe that the workers were pressured by threats from the highest office of the land, with the President allegedly warning them about losing their jobs if they proceeded with the strike,” the statement said.

The Concerned Drivers Association condemned this development, calling it a dangerous precedent that undermines the rights of workers and silences voices calling for justice and fairness in the country.

Despite the setback, the association reaffirmed its commitment to fighting for the wellbeing of Ghanaians, particularly in the ongoing battle against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

It stressed that the environmental damage caused by galamsey affects all citizens and future generations.

“We call on all citizens not to relent in the ongoing fight against illegal mining, which continues to devastate our environment and future generations,” the association urged, emphasising the need for collective action and vigilance.

The Concerned Drivers Association also encouraged Ghanaians to remain resolute in their pursuit of justice, accountability, and a sustainable future for all.
