Otumfuo Charges KNUST Governing Council To Produce Entrepreneurs

Recent data released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) showed that more than 1.8 million Ghanaians are unemployed. The wish of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom is to see products of the school endowed and strengthened with capabilities, skills and knowledge that will assist them in establishing themselves in the business world after school.

The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has charged the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the institution to refine students into entrepreneurs and not just certificate holders.

The wish of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom is to see products of the school endowed and strengthened with capabilities, skills and knowledge that will assist them in establishing themselves in the business world after school.

He made emphasis on the growing youth unemployment across the country when a delegation made up of the new Governing Council of the University called on him at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Additionally, Otumfuo challenged the team to put in place policies and measures that will enhance the growth of the institution as well as facilitate peace and security on campus.

The new Governing Council of the KNUST made an official visit to the Palace to introduce themselves to the venerable Chancellor.

The team led by the Chairman of the Council, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah consisted of Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Mr Kofi Karikari, Dr Abena Oforiwaa Ampomah, Prof. Ernest Owusu Dapaa, Prof. Samuel Asare-Nkansah and Prof. Eric K. K. Abavare.

Also present were Dr. Daniel Opoku, Mr. Abubakr Zakaria, Mr. Michael Ayuni, Mr. Mark Kakraba-Ampeh, Mr. Kofi Adusei, Miss Yvonne Adobea, Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, Prof. Ellis Owusu-Dabo, Mr. Zakaria Yeboah and Mr. Johnson Owusu.

The new council was inaugurated earlier this month.
