Forson also asserted that the number of spokespersons at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) are paid more than Directors of these Institutions.

He alleged among other issues that, the appointment of staffs of Data Bank as Special Assistants at the Finance Ministry and being paid as Customs Commissioners on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)’s payroll contributed to the economic mess the country is currently facing.

Forson who is also a Former Deputy Minister of Finance, in a tweet, alluded to the fact that the Akufo-Addo led government had the largest size of government in the history of the country and that in 2017 the government had over 125 ministers which was unprecedented.

He further indicated that the government has over 1000 presidential staffers paid as article 71 office holders at the Jubilee House with many Special Assistants to ministers with emolument close to that of a Deputy Minister at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

 

Mr. Forson also asserted that the number of spokespersons at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) are paid more than Directors of these Institutions. He noted that Chief Executive Officers at the various State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) with outrageous pay packages and Conditions of service for as many as three or four Deputies Chief Executive Officers had a toll on the country’s finances.

The Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region recounted the negative financial impact the over 50 new agencies with Zero output had on the on the Ghanaian economy. These agencies, he said, include Costal Development Agency (CODA), Northern Development Agency (NADA, Free SHS Secretariat, 1D1F Secretariat and many others.
