Owula Mangortey writes an open letter to President Akufo-Addo:THE WALKING DEAD OF BAWKU

Everywhere I turned, I could see in the faces and demeanour of the WALKING DEAD, a certain absurdity of their existence, the purposelessness of their lives, and how their sufferings increased with the passage of time

On 22nd August, 2023, I was frightened by what I saw in Bawku.

I saw the WALKING DEAD!

From Widi to Bawkzua to Azanga to Kutanga to Tishingu to Kariama to Patilime to Possum to Daduri.

From Gingande to Habitat to Kariama to Zongo to Sabon Zongo.

From South Natinga to Sagabo to Kolori to Goziese.

From Sabongari to Missiga.

The WALKING DEAD had fatigue from the conflict.

The WALKING DEAD looked quiet, lethargic, tired as if they had run a long marathon.

The WALKING DEAD were apprehensive and waiting – waiting for an expected resurrection from the command of an expected Showboy.

Everywhere I turned, I could see in the faces and demeanour of the WALKING DEAD, a certain absurdity of their existence, the purposelessness of their lives, and how their sufferings increased with the passage of time.

The WALKING DEAD looked like they were waiting for the arrival of the mysterious saviour Akufo-Addo who continually sent signals that he would appear but who never did.

Bawku is waiting for Godot!

I shall return.

Note
Commander-In-Chief Nana Akufo-Addo may consider ordering that top grade Defence Intelligence Officers from Accra are deployed with immediate effect to the border and near border communities of the Upper East and Upper West Regions.
