Part II – Fare Ye Well, Dear President and First Lady

As they bow out of mainstream politics, I will follow suit. I want to be a witness to the kindness that posterity will treat the legacy of Nana Akufo-Addo with.

It is just as well that notwithstanding the hostilities toward the President and his family by morbid souls seeking to spite good people, we must pay our respects to the outgoing President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. A nation that does not honour its heroes does a great folly; maybe unpardonable at all. When people were lobbying to get positions, the first family seemed to be on a pedestal of its own. The ass-kissers were all over, hoping that if they kissed the left butt cheek, they would get sugar and if they kissed the right one, they would get honey! The dogs, all of a sudden, lost their canines and were limited to milk-lapping as they put away their dentures to appear docile.

There were other characters in opposition who thought that by showing the President some sort of approval and humility they would get favours here and there. Time rolled by and the hands of time were ticking faster than we envisaged. Just before the arrow would strike midnight, suddenly, the dogs snarled and bared their canines while all ass-kissers switched allegiance. There is one treasonable character I wish to discuss soon, but in order not to mar the import of this write-up, I will make mention of him in subsequent articles and videos.

For now, “beautiful Rebecca” and Nana Akufo-Addo are on their way to a quieter life although I doubt His Excellency the President will slow down as we all want him to. My suspicions may just be spot on since he has maintained this pace for as long as I’ve known him. Eii, ɛnuanom, we would go campaigning, and at 8 pm when we were all de-gassed, he would still urge everyone on, let’s go let’s go! You’d think we were on “Eveready” and he was on “Duracel” batteries! Most times, he worked right through the night.

Anyway, Mr President, has certainly achieved more than any president under the 4th Republic, and that will undoubtedly be a badge of honour on his chest and that of his descendants for ages to come. I am disturbed at the jumbled manner of these last few days in office caused by ingrates who drank from his vessel and spat right back into it. I apologise to the first family for my shortcomings if there were any, and pray that Nana and Auntie Beckie will be blessed with long life devoid of the pains of this world.

As they bow out of mainstream politics, I will follow suit. I want to be a witness to the kindness that posterity will treat the legacy of Nana Akufo-Addo with. Too much politics has almost wrecked my home. It is time to patch the cracks and move on, in spite of the difficulties ahead, notwithstanding that honesty in this country does not pay!

ALLAH is sufficient for us all!

Adios!
