Pastor Love Jailed For Stealing

Pastor Hammond Love, the former husband of gospel musician Obaapa Christy has been convicted of stealing and slapped with a jail term of four years by an Accra Circuit Court.
According to a GBC online report, Pastor Love, as he is affectionately called, in 2016 was tasked by a United States of America-based Ghanaian identified as Samuel Amankwah to clear his shipped 4×4 vehicle at Ghana’s port.
The convict is reported to have cleared the vehicle with his own money. He was directed by the complainant to sell it for US$50,000 and deduct the amount he paid as duty; however, he was later asked to hold on with the sale, according to the facts of the case cited by GBC Online.
They agreed that Amakwah would travel back to Ghana to refund the pastor’s money but when he arrived in the West African country in April 2017, the convict failed to produce the car.
After requesting on several occasions to no avail, he complained to the Police which led to the pastor’s arrest in May 2017 for interrogation.
Pastor Love, per the facts as reported by GBC online, during interrogation told the Police that he secured a loan of GHC40,000 with 20 per cent interest to clear the vehicle and was accruing more interest and therefore sold the car at GHC80,000 without the consent of the owner to pay GHC70,000 to the loan company.
He however failed to adduce evidence to support the claims that he either took a loan or sold the car.
Pastor Love will now serve 48 months in jail in hard labour.
